Adam Cooper is an artist-musician whose work includes performance, recording and installation. He has created sound works for musical sculpture and gallery installation as well as performing solo and in several ensembles. His work seeks to engage with the physicality of sound-carrying objects, utilising tape and cassette collage and manipulation. Interested in the emotional resonance of the everyday, his works draw out the hidden sadness in field recordings, found tapes and objects through simple juxtapositions. His most recent works have expanded these techniques of tape manipulation and applied them to film and video to create performance and installation pieces that aim to create an emotional response from the audience through the combination of mundane, memory, and minor chords.
Adam currently performs and records under the name In Atoms.
